Paper Planes was started by Michael Gordon in 2000 to provide certification services to the Australian aviation industry.
With 20 years in the aviation industry primarily in the field of Maintenance Planning and Airworthiness Certification, Michael has gained vast experience in the regulatory oversight of all aspects of light aircraft maintenance. This, coupled with experience as a private pilot, aircraft owner and manager of several aviation partnerships has given him a broad overview of what is involved in owning and operating aircraft from the perspectives of owner, maintainer and regulator.
Michael currently holds a number of Instruments of Appointment granted by Australia's aviation regulator, the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) which permit him to carry out a wide range of regulatory functions normally reserved for CASA itself. He has worked closely with many companies in the Australian industry to ensure they meet the comprehensive set of safety standards required by the Australian Government. His experience in the field of aircraft certification ranges from aircraft operated by private individuals up to regional airlines.
Holding dual Australian and British Citizenships allows Michael to operate flexibly in a global industry, and his time is divided between Paper Plane's main base of operations in Sydney, Australia and their European offices near Frankfurt in Germany.
